Sneak Peak (if you want)

The menu and cake selection have been made! If you're curious what sort of tasty treats are in store, you can check out Michelle's food blog for all the details on the menu for the appetizer reception or the desserts menu.

Pumpkin cupcakes with orange and almond frosting are just the tip of the iceberg.
In addition to trotting off to Oregon recently on a VIP all expense paid trip to Tofurkyfest (prize drawing winners!), work loads at full force, and planning the last minute wedding details (rough life of cake tastings), Michelle is participating in VeganMoFo (Vegan Month of Food) which is an international effort by bloggers to write at least 20 blogs over the month on vegan food. It's a lot of fun and a great resource for new recipe ideas or inspiration.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

"Where should we eat?"

For those of you coming for the wedding who aren't familiar with the area, here's a handy list of restaurants in the Twin Cities.

Some of our favorites are Fasika, Seward Cafe, Himalayan, Pizza LucéCheng Heng, Ngon Bistro, and Heartland.

Rings!

I knew if I got married I didn't want a diamond ring. I was drawn to the idea of wood for my wedding ring. Trees symbolize life, roots, growth, nature, strength...things I can relate to and that I see in Jeff. A few days ago, a friend of mine suggested Jewelry by Johan, a Minnesota based custom jeweler who specializes in wood rings. Tonight, Jeff and I drove to Hastings, Minnesota and picked out our rings. Johan himself helped us determine the size, cut, and style. We eeked in just before the deadline to have our rings ready for the wedding.

These are not our rings, but are similar (the wood here is Redwood). Photo: Jewelry by Johan

Our rings will be custom-made with titanium and ironwood burl. We got to see the block of wood that will become our rings. Johan explained his process of making the ring from solid wood, no bending, joints or glue because he builds his rings to last. To ensure the rings last, he applies a hard enamel of ring armor to make them waterproof, but cautions that all things can be destroyed (all but energy, my friend). If the ring armor chips, we need to visit Johan again and he will apply a new coat because his rings are built to last. Like Jeff and myself.

We look forward to celebrating with you all soon!
